Since the founding of Jaeger-LeCoultre in 1833, the company has had a very inventive history, developing over 1,249 mechanical calibres, registering over 400 Patents and playing a tremendous role in the development of the industry as a whole. It’s difficult to imagine a history of watchmaking without the mention of Jaeger-LeCoultre. The present LeCoultre watch, preserved in excellent condition, features a strong „swissmade“ stainless steel case with a perfect symmetry and balance of the flawless silver dial. The sword-style hands, the center seconds and the embossed arrow indexes and Arabic numerals underline the simple beauty of this timepiece. The true highlight though is the bright red power reserve display, that indicates the watch's remaining running autonomy at 10 hours.

The noteworthy movement, calibre 481, introduced in 1948 has a distinctive "bumper" winding, with an oscillating weight that swings back and forth in 120-degree cycles, rather than a conventional rotor that rotates 360 degrees. The „Réserve de Marche“ represented a new complication in a post war era, showcasing the importance of la Grande Maison Jaeger-LeCoultre in the technical advancements of the watchmaking world and would make a great addition to any collection that's missing an innovative steel dress watch.
