Omega, founded in 1848 in La Chaux de Fonds has a rich history of watchmaking and is known for its high quality, pioneer spirit, technical innovation and not least for its design elegance and craftsmanship. While it is perhaps most recognized today for the Speedmaster line of chronographs launched in 1957, Omega's legacy of crafting outstanding chronograph wristwatches dates back much further, as demonstrated by this exceptional timepiece from 1935. The first generation of reference CK988 is easily identifiable by its wide cylindrical bezel, the lenticular start-stop pusher at 2 o’clock, and the reset pusher integrated into the crown. The magnificent enamel dial with its coloured scales for measuring speed and distance is complemented by the elegant Breguet hour numerals and the blued "feuille" steel hands.

Its large case diameter measures 37.5mm, and houses the prestigious mono-pusher caliber 33.3 CHRO movement. The present example is in excellent condition, retains superb proportions and crisp edges and holds a significant place in the evolution of chronograph watches and vintage horology. The Chronograph has been serviced by Omega’s vintage department and comes with a detailed documentation and photos of the restoration, as well as an Extract of the Archives confirming its date of production on November 19, 1935.
