Founded by Auguste Agassiz in 1832, Longines has a long history with sophisticated chronograph movements, in fact, much of their research and production during the early 20th century focused on chronographs, leading to the legendary calibres, such as the 30CH, which was produced for 20 years and ended in the 1970’s. It offers a flyback mechanism, which allows you to instantly reset the chronograph through a simple press on the lower pusher, instead of stopping the chronograph first.

The present example with its calibre 30CH is a perfect sample of this technology. Housed in a large contemporary 38mm case with pump pushers and a screw-down caseback, it has a commanding presence on wrist thanks to its thick, downturned lugs. The playful sunburst silver dial with its multi-coloured scales, is perfectly preserved and goes spectacularly well with the applied gold baton indexes and batons skeleton hands. Delivered with an extract from the Archives, this example, produced in 1972 for Longines’s agent for Italy, will without a doubt satisfy the connoisseur looking for a vintage everyday watch.
