This iconic chronograph manufacturer, founded in St.Imier in 1860, has a long history of precision timekeeping. As early as 1882, founder Edouard Heuer held a patent for a chronograph watch; in 1887, he received a patent for an oscillating pinion, which is still in use today. The present chronograph, built circa 1945, when Heuer was particularly creative, is distinguished by its crisp steel case with the long faceted lugs and in contrast the beautiful two-tone salmon dial. Housing the reliable Valjoux 22 caliber, it has a 36mm case size, which is quite substantial for the time and a surprising thickness of 13.5mm, which gives the watch a solid wrist presence.
Since these chronographs were meant to be used, the wide open dial with its clean lines, the printed Arabic numerals and the large sub-registers were all made with function and legibility in mind. The watch was well cared for over the years and has remained in untouched and excellent condition. Overall, this Heuer chronograph has a very balanced and beautiful aesthetic, the proportions are perfect, the movement robust and the styling timeless.
